Charlotte Mason Quote
"It would be well if all persons in authority, parents and all who act for parents, could make up our minds that there is no sort of knowledge to be got in these early years so valuable to children as that which they get for themselves of the world they live in. Let them once get touch with Nature, and a habit is formed which will be a source of delight through life. We were all meant to be naturalists, each in his degree, and it is inexcusable to live in a world so full of the marvels of plant and animal life and to care for none of these things."

Hurray for Spring!
that was a beautiful thought maren, and a great reminder to take time to get outside with my little ones.
Amen!!! I remember reaching Casey Meadows on a flower finding expedition with a dear friend. We looked down the trail to see two men with trekking poles and state of the art boots and shorts. They were plugged into ipods and chugging along the trail as fast as they could go. There was no reverence for nature and no feeling of awe at the incredibly beautiful surroundings. Why drive a half hour to the trailhead? They should have just stayed in town. They were only about gear and exercise. A sidewalk in town can do that for them, and they would have saved gas.
