Shopping Cart Acrobatics

Today I went to Target. I allowed my eyes to leave the shopping cart for a brief moment to help Bardo choose some new shirts. I know he's only three, but he has strong opinions. I turned around to find Noel holding onto the shopping cart handle, standing on her feet in the seat with her mouth wide open (that's how she smiles when she's truly pleased with her situation). I hope you'll excuse me, but I didn't take time to snap a picture.

Yikes! That sounds a bit precarious to me.

I've had several "bad mommy" moments with shopping carts. I don't know why my kids think carts are their own, personal stunt-vehicles. The worst was when Lilly tipped the cart with Deacon inside (not wearing the little seatbelt, of course) and a kind stranger came to my rescue, helping me catch the cart before any bones were broken. It makes shopping interesting when you have a little daredevil along for the ride!

Chloe did the same thing! Funny funny girls.

When Hermione and Eglantine were about two, they both tried to climb out of the shopping cart at the same time from the same side while my back was turned. It tipped over onto its side in Safeway. I knew they would both have concussions after landing on the hard cement floor. God must watch over children in grocery stores.
