Booted

That's me. And it's a problem. About 10 months ago I tore my Achilles tendon. I didn't go see a doctor until I'd had the injury 6 months. The doc walked in, said immediately, "You do have bad feet, don't you?" It shocked me. I'm attached to my feet. And my feet weren't even hurting me. He gave me about four minutes of his time, pointed out a few ugly parts of my feet, recommended orthotics, and told me he'd have the physical therapist call me. The physical therapist called me...about one month later, right before Thanksgiving. I went about 3 times. If felt really good, but was not a cardio workout at all and required so much time (mine and my friends because I couldn't bring kids). So as soon as it started feeling better I stopped, thinking I'd be able to resume my jogging routine if I started little by little. I was wrong. Right after the first wimpy run, it was clear that my tendon was not completely healed and that I had injured it more by running on it before I was ready. In fact, I gave myself plantar fascitis. 8 weeks ago I chose a new foot doctor. He didn't insult my feet, but recommended a night splint and orthotics. I've been in orthotics about a month now, and they helped me to the point that I felt like I wanted to run. The morning after the run, the pain in my heel was more severe. Today my friendly podiatrist put me in a boot to stabilize the injury since it's impossible for me to just sit around and let it rest in my line of work. I'll be off to PT again, this time for the full 3 weeks, maybe more. Maybe by the time I head to Disneyland with the fam I'll be 100%. Here's hoping...

That's so crummy! I hope that you're better in time for Disneyland.

Bummer! I hope you heal quickly, find lots of other ways to exercise, and that it never happens again!!!

Hmmm. I don't even know where my orthotics are. And I just hurt my foot. I am so glad you found a good podiatrist who isn't insulting . . . when are you going to Disneyland?
