Bardo's Favorite

Yesterday Bardo had a rough day. It's a Sunday tradition (2 weeks in a row) for him to wake up before the parents, eat a bowl of ice cream (he's mastered the refrigerator lock) and then just go through a series of sugar crashes all day long.

Yesterday he experimented with throwing things to communicate frustration and despair and general yucky feeling all day long. After placing a dent in his door the Warlock and I had had it. We explained to the boy that he couldn't have "stuff" in his room anymore. We proceeded to remove all hard-backed books and hard toys from his room and transport them to the community play room. All toys in the play room must ALWAYS be shared NO MATTER WHAT.

Oh the panic that sets in when toy extraction occurs. Bardo cries out in the moment of his tribulation, "Please please don't take Pippi, too." So there you have it. The most important play thing is his incredible older sister.

Right now, Bardo is asleep next to her bed, on the floor after a long day of witchcraft and wizardry, building tents, playing outside (even in the heat), and swimming. I got to be Professor McGonagall during their game. All I know, is that Ginny Weasely has a lot of questions about the world we live in and how things work and that she's thrilled to discover she has some divination abilities. I'm not sure who dreads the day Pippi stops pretending more, me or Bardo.

Here's Pippi this summer. (She was making earrings out of buttons and paper clips at the time this pic was taken.)

Here's Pippi when she was Bardo's age and she was the tag-a-long little sister.

the imagination that comes out of your house is very, very admirable. and it doesn't get sweeter than a little boy who loves his sister more than any toy!

I laughed so hard it brought tears to my eyes. I'm glad that, all toys considered, Bardo loves his sister best!

I want to play Harry Potter too. Definitely a resemblance between Pippi and Bardo at that age.

Hmmm...I wonder if that's why Quinn's little stubborn face comes out during singing time. :) Hey, Isaac could use a friend this week. You should have seen his face light up when I told him he was going to your house last week! I'll call.
