Pippi's Hard Lesson

Today while on a bike ride, Pippi found a pile of beautiful sand. She decided to go digging. Before I could stop her, she was covered in fire ants. She was screaming and jumping around as I quickly tried to brush them off her while balancing Bardo on my shoulders. All the way home she wailed and cried, "Why? Why would they bite me?"

But by the time we got home she was fine, and ready for a bath. And she was delighted with my suggestion that she wear her tap dancing gloves to bed to keep from scratching.

That is a hard lesson, but when I try to imagine it happening I smile and giggle!

I think you've described one of those childlike attributes that I need to work on developing: when something bad happens, don't dwell on it and turn it into a big deal, but just forget it or find the positive in it, even if it's something as small as getting to wear your tap dance gloves to bed :) Kids are awesome!
