Solitude, with 17,000 of my closest friends

The Witch already gave her blurb about the getaway. Dads need the getaway too, if for no other reason that to get Moms away from clingy kids and for both to remember why they decided to start this crazy journey together in the first place: they are best friends.

As for the race itself....

This was easily the most fun I've had in a marathon. Part of that is that I'm no longer a marathon virgin (I've seen seen a number of running shirts that claim marathon promiscuity using words not appropriate for a family blog). I have a lot of experience and have been in some sort of training mode for the last two years. So I set a PR (3:55:20) despite having a number of factors against me.

But I would have had a fun time even with a bad race. This marathon was exceptionally well done in the way only Disney can do it. And there is a camaraderie that we runners have when race day approaches. Other activities have it as well, but there's nothing quite like having a few hours to yourself and your own mental health - and sharing it with 17,000 of your best friends.

Did you dress up? If so, which character?

Congrats on the PB! You should train at a higher altitude, like where I live, for a few weeks and then run a marathon at sea level.
