Bardo in the Kitchen

Yesterday we were whipping up pancakes before school.  Bardo insisted on operating the beaters.  He started the beaters and commented, "Mom, look, it's like there are two whirlpools, in love."

Yesterday the YW Presidency meeting was at my house.  Before the meeting I'd locked up the pantry and refrigerator.   It was getting to be lunch time, so Bardo found my keys, pulled out apples for everyone and some bow tie noodles.  We were surprised when we saw Olivia, age 1, wandering around with a Fuji apple half the size of her head.  I was afraid she had picked it up out of the backyard as I'd seen one under the play set, but no, Bardo was taking care of her for us.

I introduced Bardo this summer to a few different knives.  He loves to slice tomatoes and cucumbers for our salads.  He also loves to sharpen knives.  One day I found him running around the house with the knife sharpener tucked into his pants.  He thought it made a great sword.

And now for a poem that reminds me of Bardo:

This Is Just to Say

I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold

So funny. My boys are the same way. I feel like they are ALWAYS hungry! I shudder for the day they are teenagers.

Love the poem. Sounds like our boys are two of a kind!

Ha! Never a dull moment into the Silly Household! It's a amazing how the toys keep kids interested for 5 minutes, but tools and other random items combined with imagination keep kids entertained for hours.

I hope he still likes to cook when he's older. It's a great thing for a boy to know how to do.
